Italian Medieval Music from the 14th Century in all its splendor at the courts of Florence and Venice, in particular works from the Francesco Landini, an exponent of Italian Music in this period.

Return

The genius of the great master of Ars Nova, Guillaume de Machaut, who was important for both his secular and religious work. Even though he did not completely abandon the ancient tradition of the trouvères (as can be seen in his monophonic virelais) he knew, as no other composer, how to integrate his compositions to the most recent tendencies of the new art.

Return

The troubadour lyric, born in the south of France, was a poetical-musical movement which inspired musicians throughout most of Europe (North of France, Iberian Peninsula, Italy, Germany, etc…). Troubadorism was a decisive landmark in the history of literature, influencing future generations such as Petrarca’s and Dante’s.

          Return

A voyage to the pilgrimage routes of the Iberian Peninsula through the marvellous Songs of Santa Maria. An expression of popular devotion and of great narrative wealth in the description of the Virgin’s miracles. And more: works from the Calixtinus Codex and from the Red Book of Monserrat.

Return

The Schola Cantorum tradition from the Paris Notre Dame Cathedral represents the height of poliphony in the period known as Ars Antiqua and influenced other European regions, such as Saint Martial de Limoges and Las Huelgas. The music from the age of Cathedrals in all its glory.
